The French Library is situated in the Alliance de Wellington premises and is open to anyone in New Zealand. It offers a great variety of books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, videos, CD-roms, comics, self teaching methods and reference books about France. All resources are available on free loan provided you become a member of the Alliance de Palmerston North.
Not only is it a library, but it also organizes book clubs, competitions, a story time and activities for children and is a great place for school groups to visit.

Library rules
Duration of loans
- Schools / Universities / Alliance Française branches / Individuals outside the greater Wellington region :
- All other resources : 30 days
- Others :
- Smaller books, comics, magazines, CDs, CD-Roms, audio cassettes : 15 days
- Larger books : 30 days
Cost of sending out resources
All postage costs for sending out resources from the French Library must be met by the borrower.
Cost of returning resources
All postage costs for returning resources to the French Library must be met by the borrower.
DVD collection
A one-off bond of $ 40.00 is required if you wish to borrow DVDs. Please note, this bond will be banked when received but will remain refundable at any time upon request provided that no DVD has been lost or damaged by the borrower.
Methods of payment : cash, eftpos (no credit cards), cheque (payable to Alliance française Wellington Inc.).
Lost and damaged materials
All lost and damaged items (excluding DVDs) will be charged to the borrower at replacement cost.
